Mack Herron

Before there was Charles Roberts, therw was "Mini" Mack Herron, who at 5' 5" was one inch shorter than Sir Charles.   Herron was a sixth round draft pick of the Atlanta Falcons in 1970 and joined the Bombers for the 1971 season.  In his rookie season, Herrorn ran for 900 yards, added 426 more on 36 catches and added another 1019 yards on 35 kickoff returns.  Those numbers combined to make Herron a Western All-Star in 1971.  The following season, Herron had an amazing season, running for 1527 yards in a 16 game season, caught 39 passes for 451 yards and added 552 on kickoff returns including one return for 120 yards  In total, Herron scored 17 touchdowns that season was well deserving of his All-Canadian selection.  Unfortunately, Herron's CFL career was cut short by drug problem that caused the Bombers to release him.  After being out of footbal in 1972, Herror returned to play for the New England Patriots of the NFL in 1973 and played with the Patriots and the Falcons until he retired in 1975.

Mack Herron passed away on December 6, 2015.
